EMDR Trauma Therapy in Jacksonville, Florida

EMDR therapy stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Though it’s been around for a couple of decades, it has been growing more and more in popularity in more recent years. EMDR allows people to heal from trauma and other negative events they’ve experienced.

EMDR is different from traditional talk therapy as you do not have to talk about the distressing events you have experienced. Instead, it works with your brain’s natural healing abilities to lessen (desensitize) the negative memory by desensitizing the negative emotions and sensations that go along with the memory.

The effectiveness of EMDR has been studied through approximately 20 studies. It has shown to be effective for many issues. In my practice, I use EMDR to help women heal from the following:

  • Anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Performance anxiety
  • PTSD and other trauma and stress-related issues
  • Sexual assault
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Violence and abuse

I offer EMDR Trauma Therapy Intensives where we meet for 3 hours at a time to accelerate your healing. I have found that a 3-hour intensive equates to 1-2 months of weekly therapy. You can reach out to me with any questions or to determine whether EMDR may be a good fit for you.
