Counseling for Postpartum Depression, Postpartum Anxiety,
and Beyond in Jacksonville, Florida
Motherhood has evolved in our society. It often carries a lot of pressure and weight as many mothers have little to no support around them as they are pregnant and raising their children.
The term, perinatal, refers to a the period of time a woman is pregnant as well as the year after she gives birth. 1 in 5 women will develop a perinatal mood disorder.
There are multiple perinatal issues that can arise including:
- Postpartum Depression
- Postpartum Anxiety
- Postpartum Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Postpartum Bipolar Disorder
- Postpartum PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
- Postpartum Psychosis
These issues can arise any time within the first year after giving birth and can last for 2-3 years. After that point, if symptoms are still there, it is considered that you have depression or anxiety outside of the postpartum period.
Birth trauma is a real thing and is being recognized more and more.
I specialize in perinatal mental health and would be honored to help support and guide you during your pregnancy and beyond. Helping mamas means helping newborns start out in the best way possible.
