Are You Constantly Striving?

Are you someone who strives to learn more? Do better? Improve herself?

Do you read all the popular self-help books and follow the social media accounts that focus on the same?

I notice with my clients and even myself, that sometimes we are so focused on becoming a better version of ourselves, that we forget to be present with who we have become.

If we can remember to pause and look in the mirror to see just how far we’ve come?

So often, with life moving as fast as it does, we forget to slow down and process all that we’ve already accomplished and survived.

If you are always living in the future, striving to become the next best version of yourself, then you are missing out on the amazing woman you are right now in the present.

When’s the last time you celebrated yourself? Not necessarily for something big, but more importantly, a smaller win?

Here’s a simple activity you can do to help you to take in all that you have accomplished so far. I encourage you to write out your response if that resonates.

  • Find a spot to sit comfortably with a pen and notebook.

  • Give yourself space to think back about your week, month, and even year.

  • Write down the things you feel you have accomplished and achieved, big AND small.

  • After you’ve made your list, take a few minutes to notice what you feel inside as you read over the list or even say it out loud. Hopefully, you notice positive feelings.

  • Give yourself time to just feel the good feelings and let them get as strong as they can inside. Doing this, helps you connect to yourself and reinforces what you’ve accomplished.

  • Do this weekly or monthly if you can. Doing this regularly trains your brain to notice the positives more, which then increases your sense of gratitude and overall positive feelings.

It’s okay to take time to celebrate yourself. In fact, it’s SO important to slow down to process your life. It will increase your overall satisfaction with your life. If you never stop to reflect, you’re more likely to continue repeating the same mistakes versus repeating your positive choices.
