Searching for Happiness

It’s easy to look to others for your happiness, but the reality is that no one is responsible for your happiness but you.

This can be a hard pill to swallow, but happiness is truly an inside job.

I often see this with women and their significant others. They expect their significant other to make and keep them happy.

This is a myth. Our significant other’s job is NOT to make us happy.

It’s easy to expect those closest to us to be responsible for our happiness.

And they do make us feel happy at times, but to EXPECT them to ALWAYS make us feel happy is an impossible task.

The truth is that no one is responsible for your feelings but you.

To rely on or depend on someone else for your happiness is a sign that your expectations are unrealistic. Honestly, it just leads to you feeling disappointed because even our loved ones are imperfect.

They WILL fail us at times. It’s just inevitable because we are only human.

I know that I have failed others close to me in the past. Not intentionally, but I recognize and acknowledge that I’ve hurt and disappointed them at times.

When you find yourself seeking happiness from other people or even things, think of it as a beautiful invitation to pause, look inward, and ask yourself…

  • What am I needing in this moment?

  • What do I feel is missing?

  • What can I control in this moment?

Jot down your answers and go from there.❤️
